Terms of Service

Last updated: 17 October 2026

These terms apply to your use of The Serving Stack (theservingstack.com, "the site", "we"). Reading the site requires no account; by creating an account or subscribing to the newsletter, you accept these terms.

1. Who runs this site

The Serving Stack is published by Alexis Kinsella, an individual in France, who is also responsible for its editorial content. Contact: team@theservingstack.com.

The site is hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany (+49 9831 505-0), in its Nuremberg data center. Database backups are stored by Scaleway SAS, 8 rue de la Ville l'Évêque, 75008 Paris, France.

2. What the site offers

Free articles, figures, interactive widgets, and code; free accounts, which let you enroll in courses, track your progress, save articles, rate courses, send feedback and error reports, and receive certificates where a course issues them; and a free newsletter. Everything on the site is free today.

We keep improving the site and may change or remove features and content. We do our best to keep it available but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access.

3. Your account

You must be at least 15 to create an account. Your account is as secure as your email address and your GitHub or Google account: whoever controls them can sign in. Tell us at team@theservingstack.com if you think your account has been misused.

You can stop using your account at any time and ask us to delete it. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, after telling you why, unless the breach is serious or repeated.

4. Acceptable use

Do not use the site to break the law or others' rights; do not try to access accounts or data that are not yours, or to disrupt the service, including through excessive automated requests; do not post unlawful, abusive, or misleading content, or advertising, in feedback, error reports, ratings, or your bio. Reading the site with automated tools at a reasonable rate, for personal use, research, or search indexing, is fine.

5. Intellectual property and reuse

The articles, courses, figures, widgets, videos, and the site's design are protected by copyright and belong to the publisher, unless another author or license is stated.

  • You may read and link to them, quote short extracts with attribution and a link to the source, and use the code snippets shown in articles in your own projects, commercial or not, without attribution, unless a snippet states its own license.
  • You may not, without written permission, republish articles, courses, or figures in full or in substantial part, or use them to build a competing publication or course.
  • Third-party code, quotes, and trademarks keep their owners' rights and licenses (for example, excerpts of open-source projects keep the project's license).

6. What you send us

You keep the rights to what you write (feedback, error reports, ratings, bio) and allow us to use it to run and improve the site. We publish nothing you sent us privately without asking you first.

7. Accuracy and liability

We write carefully, verify, and measure where we say so, but software, versions, prices, and benchmarks change after publication, and your results may differ. The content is for information and education: check it before relying on it in production, and use the code at your own risk.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, or your rights as a consumer. Within those limits, we are not liable for indirect losses (such as lost data, revenue, or business) arising from the use of the free content.

8. Changes

We may update these terms. We change the date above, and if a change affects your account, we tell you by email before it applies. If you disagree, you can close your account.

9. Law

These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection of its mandatory rules. Write to team@theservingstack.com first if you have a complaint; otherwise, disputes go to the competent courts.
